ONE TEAM…ONE GOAL…
TO MAKE EVERYDAY LIVES BETTER

A union helps neutralize pay discrimination.  The most recent reports from the Canadian Labour Congress shows:

      • For women in a union, the weekly pay advantage is 35% or $7.10/hour more than non-union women in the workforce.
      • Young union workers earn about 27% more with a Union in their workplace.
      • Aboriginal workers earned $6.51/ hour more with a Union.
      • New Canadians (landed immigrants) earned $3.97 more per hour with a Union in their workplace.

Our Union, Local 1611, through it’s officials and representatives, bargains with employers to reach collective agreements on behalf of our Union members. This bargaining may include the negotiation of wages, holiday entitlement, work practices, dispute procedures, workplace safety, recruitment, disciplinary protocols, health, pension and other benefits. Whether you work in the construction or security sector, Local 1611 is here to represent and protect our members in their place of employment. Everyone deserves to make a “living wage,” which means to earn a wage you can raise a family with.

WHAT DO UNIONS LOBBY FOR;
Better Wages
Benefits
Job Security
Occupational Health and Safety
Holiday Pay
Overtime Pay

We help our members build better lives by putting the interests of workers first.  Our contractors are industry leaders who work with our membership to provide careers, not just jobs.
